Buffalo Sabres vs Edmonton Oilers 1/29/15 9:30PM EST Rexall Place
Finally, the most important game of the season for both teams has arrived. This game is huge for the quest for McEichel, as a regulation win for either squad will be counted as a huge loss.
Currently the Buffalo Sabres are holding onto 30th place, after briefly loaning it to the Edmonton Oilers. The Sabres have lost 12 straight in a row, and look nowhere near close to ending it anytime soon. Is there anything positive about this team? Chris Stewart sees the light at the end of the tunnel, the NHL Trade Deadline. He has 4 points in his last 3 games and is hoping to remove himself from the cellar dwellers that are the Sabres. Buffalo is also making the correct tank move, by resting Nikita Zadorov for this game, why not sit Enroth as well?
Edmonton is 4-5-1 in their last 10 and has shown some life since the firing of Dallas Eakins. The Oilers have too much squandered talent on this roster, a combination of underachieving and boneheaded decisions. Maybe the front office and players collectively agreed to tank for McDavid. Edmonton will rest Taylor Hall tonight, which has a much bigger impact than the Zadorov resting by the Sabres.
One of our followers summed up these two teams perfectly.
This game screams ugly Sabres win. I can see it now, Sabres have 12 shots on net, with 3 goals. Enroth playing out of his mind, with 42 saves on 44 shots, and the Sabres win in Regulation. Sabres fans, let’s hope I am wrong.
Prediction: Sabres 3 Oilers 2
