The Edmonton Oilers have won the 2015 NHL Draft lottery and the McEichel sweepstakes. Their pick, originally 3rd overall, has moved up to 1st. This will now be the 4th time that Edmonton picks 1st overall in 6 years, with Taylor Hall, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Nail Yakupov being the last 3 picks at those spots. The Buffalo Sabres and Arizona Coyotes will now pick 2nd and 3rd overall, respectively. All other teams will remain in their original positions. The Oilers organization declined to say who they will pick at the draft, but the believed consensus is that they will pick Connor McDavid or Jack Eichel. Whoever the Oilers do not pick will likely go to Buffalo, who have been keeping a sharp eye on both of the highly touted prospects. Congratulations Edmonton, now don’t ruin this one.
