This year’s NHL All-Star Game is Jan 31 in Nashville.

John Scott being chosen play in the All Star game and as a captain to boot, just shows how pitiful the once storied exhibition has become.

As a kid, watching the World vs North America was always a highlight of the NHL season. Jagr and Selanne vs Kariya and Mike Modano were always fun to watch. Now the game is just too gimmicky and allowing trolls to elect John Scott, someone who is known specifically as a goon, just further diminishes the game .

The question has been brought up before, but is it time to remove the All Star Game completely? Making the game have a direct effect on the Stanley Cup Playoffs like MLB, doesn’t seem like it would affect the competitiveness of the game as a whole.  The NHL is running out of options to keep fans interested in this troll job.  I must admit I found hilarious back when All-Star voting became open but now I find it completely contemptible.

Maybe switching the format again can save the game, because the “Draft” style isn’t cutting it and players don’t have any incentive to give it 100%.  Hopefully the NHL does something, to once again bring some meaning and value to the game.
